Looking for rescue Dachshund in midwestern US?

The Chicago Post-Tribune has an interesting feature on MidWest Dachshund Rescue. The article makes the point that there’s no reason to automatically assume rescue dogs come with problems.

“One of the biggest misconceptions is that all dogs in rescue are abused, which is not the case at all,” said Lori Biesboer, MWDR Illinois/Indiana representative. “There are many reasons. Most common is that they are owner-surrendered because the owner does not have time to take care of their dog due to work hours; some are moving and cannot take the dog, or it can be due to a death or illness of the owner.”
