Indiana Dachshund sole survivor of fire

The Jeffersonville, IN News and Tribune reports on the case of a Dachsund who mysteriously survived a house fire.

“Her name should be ‘Miracle’ instead of ‘Lady,’ because it was a miracle she survived.”

Lady, a 3-year-old dachshund, is thought to be the lone survivor of a fire that completely destroyed a home on Whelan Lane in Jeffersonville on Friday morning. No one was home at the time of the blaze, but there were four dogs inside.

Initially, all of them were thought to have perished. However, neighbors later heard Lady barking and found her standing outside the home after fire crews had left.

“We still have absolutely no idea how she got out of the house,” said homeowner Bill Bloomfield.

The remains of two other dogs have been found at the fire site. No one is yet sure on the fate of the other dog.
