Dachshund saves cat from entombment

The owners of wiener dog, Bernie Mac, were about to close up the crawl space beneath a storage shed on their property, but their dog wouldn’t come out from under.

“Bernie evidently had become friends with a black cat, and he knew the cat had made a home under the shed and she was still under there,” his owner Linda Burns told the Daily Herald of Columbia, Tennessee. “He was protecting her. If not for Bernie, the bottom of the shed would have been sealed up with the cat underneath.”

Reminds us of that Edgar Allan Poe short story where a black cat is walled up in the cellar. The presence of a Doxie in that house might have changed the course of American literature.
